What CLF-C02 is actually measuring

The Cloud Practitioner exam tests cloud literacy at breadth: what services exist, what category they belong to, who owns what under the shared responsibility model, and how AWS pricing works at a conceptual level. This is not primarily an architecture tradeoff exam. Questions are not asking you to weigh tradeoffs under constraint; they are asking whether you can correctly place a service, boundary, or cost model in the right bucket. Where candidates run into trouble is the deceptively similar: services with overlapping names, responsibility boundaries that feel obvious until they are not, and pricing models that are easy to conflate when you have not worked with them directly. Studying the services is necessary, but the exam tests whether you can distinguish between them when two plausible answers both sound correct.
