Near-right architecture is the dominant trap on SAP-C02, and at professional level that category is genuinely difficult to dismiss. The wrong answers are sophisticated designs that would be defensible in a different organizational context. The exam rewards selecting the right architecture for the stated organizational context, which is a narrower constraint than building a technically correct one. Operational complexity underestimation compounds this: the professional instinct to build custom control planes or bespoke automation works against candidates when AWS-native capabilities already cover the requirement at scale. Together, these two failure modes account for the large majority of losses on this exam.
