AWS Solutions Architect (SAA-C03) trap evaluation

9 trap types across 200 Solutions Architect questions. Know which ones cost you points — and train until they don't.

Why correct architecture knowledge still loses you points

SAA-C03 traps are constructed around a specific failure mode: the wrong answer is also a working solution. It uses real AWS services in plausible configurations, and it solves the stated technical problem. What it violates is a requirement the scenario specified and the candidate weighted as secondary. Engineers with solid AWS knowledge are most exposed to this. They evaluate options by technical capability and trust the architecture they recognize, rather than reading which condition the question is actually filtering on. The most common version of this: confusing availability with durability. Multi-AZ keeps a database accessible through an AZ failure; it does nothing for data lost to deletion, corruption, or application error. SAA-C03 builds several of its sharpest wrong answers from that gap. These losses usually come from how the question is read, not from a lack of AWS knowledge.
